Heard a lot about KC so I dropped in for a quick bite. The menu has 160 items, that is simply mind blowing. Ordering was easy by the counter and plenty of seats inside. Not the flashest place but then again good food comes first not ambience. Ordered a Kway Teow and it underwhelmed. Has good wok her but it was too salty and the rice noodle itself was a thicker kind. Lots of meat though. It wasn’t bad but just expected more. Will come back again to try the duck related meals which seems to be the highlights.

We didn’t realise this place was such a humble, long-standing institution but totally get why now.
The wonton soup was incredible - rich umami broth with scallions and fried shallots, with beautiful, gigantic prawn wontons.
We got some fried squid to takeaway which was also amazing - and such a large portion! We’ll definitely be back.

The only place in Wellington I would go to for fried squid fell in love with this place when I moved to Wellington for a year came back to Auckland and of course when I visit Wellington its a must have for dinner
Partner got his usual wonton soup Auckland can't compare to what's on offer here it does get pretty packed fast as it is very popular on Friday and Saturday nights so I would suggest heading in early
Roast duck here is next level juicy fatty and full of flavour

Excellent as always.
I and my husband have tried so many restaurants but we always come back to this humble cafe.
The food and serving is delicious and just right.
The young man gladly gave us some chilli oil and soy sauce which complemented my brisket. I appreciated this so much!!
My only suggestion is that they get a bigger restaurant. You have lots of loyal regulars KC Cafe! You can do it!!
Thanks! We always enjoy your food 💖.
